Default A Few Questions

Ok, first off Hello Everyone Have a few questions about GW after this last BWE and have only been able to find partial answers elsewhere from what I have seen. Nothing in this post is meant to be negative against GW, played in two beta's, loved it, pre-ordered it. Just some stuff I was curious about.

1. Missions/Lore Does anyone know how long the story (with just the release) is supposed to take to complete? I have read elswhere that a lot of content was held back for release. Is it going to be kinda like Neverwinter Nights where you can power through the storyline in just a few days, but if you decide to do side quests you can adventure almost limitlessly, or are all missions tied to the story?

2. Party Size a. This BWE my three friends and I made it up to the point were we killed the charrs at the wall with the Trebuchets. Not sure what chapter this was but the next mission talked about going North, so I am assuming we were entering chapter 2, please correct me if I'm wrong. But we were still at 4 person max group. When do we get to go bigger? b. Is there an optimal size for groups? Are we supposed to always be maxed out, or can a four person team with the right stratagey, skill, and luck be able to do most things?

3. "The Game Really Starts at 20" A lot of people have said this and just wondering exactly what it means. Are most of the quests/missions built around lvl 20's or are people just referring to the pvp comps. I understand and like the idea of the lvl cap, just wondering what's after it.

Rant: (But a good one) Well those are the main questions for now, and would just like to close with "Wow, this game is amazing!" I've played everything from Empiriana and the Realm up to EQII and WOW. And besides the first couple of weeks of the original EQ no game has really awed me, but watching the Trebuchets fire and blow up on a mass of Charrs, or being spotted by the Charr army and running for my life while praying a friend would trip has been the two most fun things I think I have ever seen in an on-line rpg..and I haven't made it anywhere in the game yet. Oh well, back to waiting 7 more days.....lol. Thanks for your answers and for listening, good hunting all.

there are 25 missions (non pvp) to start
there are 60-70 explorable areas (non pvp, not small) to start with additional content to be added by streaming in

fron GW

Guild Wars, in contrast, is based around your skill as a player. Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly, after about 20-30 hours of play. ,We call that 'The Point of Ascension'. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless.

would answer more but time for lunch

Welcome to GWG and GW!

1. Missions are different from quests. All missions are linked to the central story, and in an informal interview, Jeff Strain had said that there will be around 25 missions total. Missions propel the main storyline and serve as a sort of jumpstart into different regions of the world. Quests are smaller tasks strewn throughout the land, and there will be many many of them. If you look at MOOMANiBE's map, you can see how large the world is now, and that's only about half the world. Just in case, and for future reference, explorable areas (EAs) are the areas around the missions that you can spend hours upon hours exploring, and they won't be empty, either.

2. No, when you go "north," you are not reaching Chapter 2. You've only just begun Chapter 1. Four is not the final, maximum number on team sizes. As you progress in the game, the group limit will increase. There will be a cap on group limit, but four is not it. As for how many people you should bring.. You should always bring the maximum amount of people allowed to you. The missions are pretty balanced in terms of difficulty in relation to your group size.

3. What people mean by "the game is made for level 20s" is that you'd be around or near level 20 when you reach Sanctum Cay (which is the last mission that we get to see in BWEs). As much of the game hasn't been revealed, this means that the rest of the areas are made and designed to be explored and experienced by level 20s. Sure, PvP is a huge endgame designed around the level 20 cap, but the later areas will also provide the high-end PvE content. Then, it won't be a matter of "oh well! I can level for 50 more hours and come back to squash this area" but rather "what strategy, skills, and sort of teamwork is required to defeat this area?"

I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed the game!
